Made New Friends at Temple Israel

My family joined Temple Israel Ner Tamid right before the High Holidays August, 2010.

We were looking for a congregation in which our daughter Aliza would be comfortable and could become a Bat Mitzvah. We were immediately impressed with the friendliness and warmth of Rabbi Matt and the entire congregation. who made us feel so welcome and at home. Our daughter Isabella enjoyed it so much she decided she wanted to be confirmed here as well. What a pleasant surprise that was!!

The services were so beautiful and included the kids in the congregation--Rabbi Matt even knew all of the kids and members by name! What a difference from our previous Temple where we were just a number.

The girls and I started to attend Friday night services on a regular basis. In addition to the wonderful music, we loved the idea of making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches every Friday night to be distributed to the homeless.

Volunteer opportunities for the entire family.

TINT members do so much community outreach we wanted to be part of it. We volunteered at the St. Aloysius Christmas dinner and the girls and Steve have helped with the cemetery cleanups. The girls have made new friendships here and Aliza's recent Bat Mitzvah was incredible. It was so nice to have so many of the members know her and attend, and the service was so personalized for her. She was even able to play Hatikvah on her clarinet and have the other kids join her on their instruments at the conclusion of her service.

I am only sorry we didn’t join sooner, but we are here now and we love it!
