2012 Speaker Series Featured Rabbi Joseph Telushkin as the Guest Lecturer

Rabbi Joseph Telushkin, named one of the 50 best speakers in the United States (Talk Magazine), was the third guest in the Temple’s Speaker Series, discussing “The Best 50 Jewish Jokes and What They Say About the Jews,” at 7 p.m. at TINT.
Telushkin is not only an outstanding speaker, but also has authored many books, including Biblical Literacy: The Most Important People, Events and Ideasof the Hebrew Bible, which was chosen as a Book-of-the Month club selection. In addition, he has co-authored books with Dennis Prager, the guest at TINT’s first speaker series event.
His work not only encompasses the non-fiction biblical world, but he has written a novel which became the basis of several episodes of the Emmy-award winning TV series, The Practice, and co-wrote several additional episodes.
Not only has he written for television, he was co-writer and associate producer of a movie, The Quarrel, which has been released theatrically throughout the United States.
Rabbi Telushkin was ordained at Yeshiva University and pursued graduate studies in Jewish history at Columbia University.He is a senior associate of the National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership (CLAL), on the board of directors of the Jewish Book Council and is spiritual leader of the Synagogue for the Performing Arts in Los Angeles.
Over 250 people attended the lecture, and 40 people participated in the meet and greet session.
