Terri Libenson, winner of the 2016 Reuben (not with corned beef) Award for the Best Newspaper Strip from the National Cartoonists Society, was the eighth guest speaker in Temple Israel Ner Tamid’s annual Speaker Series .
Her internationally syndicated strip, The Pajama Diaries, appears in more than 200 newspapers, including the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
The semi-autographical three-book series about the Kaplan family is highlighted by “Bat-Zilla,” delightfully covering the tsuris and pleasure that accompanies a daughter’s Bat Mitzvah.
Ms. Libenson, a native of Kingston, PA, graduated from Washington University in St. Louis. After graduation she worked as an award-winning cartoonist for American Greetings for about two decades and launched The Pajama Diaries in 2006. She recently issued the first of a new series, “Invisible Emmie,” for middle grade students.
Ms. Libenson generously donated an original Pajama Diaries comic strip which was auctioned immediately following her presentation.
